Additional Stool Tests

Below is a list of additional stool tests that are not part of the standard general stool analysis (coprogram):

  • Bacteriological Stool Culture
Isolation and identification of pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms (e.g., Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli, etc.).
    Testing bacterial sensitivity to antibiotics.

  • Stool Parasite Analysis (PCR, Immunological)
Detection of parasite DNA (e.g., Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, Toxocara, etc.) using molecular methods.
    Immunological tests for parasite antigens.

  • Occult Blood Test Using Immunochemical Methods (ELISA)
A more sensitive and specific test compared to the classic chemical method.

  • Measurement of TU M2-PK Enzyme
Marker of tumor processes in the large intestine (colorectal cancer).

  • Fatty Acid Analysis by Gas Chromatography
Accurate quantitative and qualitative analysis of fatty acids.

  • Determination of Pancreatic Enzymes in Stool
For example, elastase-1 — an important marker of the exocrine pancreatic function.

  • Stool Analysis for Carcinogenic Compounds and Toxins
Detection of intestinal bacterial toxins, such as Clostridium difficile.

  • Molecular Diagnosis of Dysbiosis
Determination of intestinal microbiota composition using PCR and sequencing methods.
